Kyle Hunter Welton

Born in Toronto, Canada, Kyle began his career in film in front of the lens at the age of 17 . Working as a commercial and television actor he landed roles alongside stars such as: Jon Voight and Emmy Rossum, in addition to being featured in numerous advertising campaigns.

After completing a bachelor of Commerce degree at McMaster University he decided to transition from in front of the camera to behind it, moving to British Colombia to attend the Vancouver Film School.

While there, Kyle completed his student short film Balloon & the Beast,  which went on to receive numerous official selection awards at such prestigious festivals as: The Canadian Film Centre’s Worldwide Short Film Festival ,The Leo Awards Film Festival & The Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival.

After the success of this student film, Kyle went on to produce Heart of Whistler which was the recipient of the Whistler Stories contest grant and upon its completion was named official selection of both the Whistler Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival.

Following Heart of Whistler, Kyle Welton wrote and directed Schadenfreude. Inspired by the popularity of voyeuristic torture film such as: Saw and Hostel. Schadenfreude is Kyle’s comment on the horror/torture genre.

Continuing his upward trend as an emerging talent, Kyle’s latest project, The Nature of Suzuki, is a feature length documentary starring Canadian Environmental Icon David Suzuki. The Nature of Suzuki is a penetrating look of the renowned Canadian icon following him on his 2007 coast to coast tour and interviewing him in the present day. The Nature of Suzuki is part Canadian environmental road movie and part intimate portrait. It captures the rise and fall of the environmental movement and the hopes and dreams of a man who has given everything to the cause.
